Why am I not receiving emails from my STI Progress installation?

Problem:
I have not received an activation email from our STI Progress installation

Solution:

All email systems have to deal with an increasing number of unwanted emails. Hence, the email spam filters are getting stricter and stricter, and sometimes it ends up filtering out emails that we want to keep. To avoid this, you can whitelist certain senders so that they never end up in your spam folder.

Below are instructions on how to do this with the most common email systems:

 

Hotmail/Live/Outlook.com:
In hotmail the easiest way to whitelist a sender is simply to send an email to them. In our case, we want to whitelist system@eloomi.com. So we do as follows:

  1. Click New Message
  2. Type system@eloomi.com in the To-field
  3. Send the empty message.

You will now receive an error email back because system@eloomi.com is a no-reply address. You may delete that message, but now you’re all set.

Gmail:

In Gmail, there is no need to send an e-mail. We simply create a contact:

  1. Click on the Gmail menu and select Contacts:

  2. Click on the “+” in the lower right corner. It looks like this:
  3. Type the name of your learning portal in the name field and system@eloomi.com in the email field, and click Save.

Then you should be all set to receive emails and be on your way to activating your new and exciting e-learning portal.

Other email systems:

There are many ways to solve this with other email systems, but one of the following will usually work: 

  1. Add system@eloomi.com to your contacts
  2. Send an email to system@eloomi.com
  3. Find a whitelist or safelist setting and add system@eloomi.com
